Callisto was the favourite of Artemis’ (virgin goddess of chastity and hunting) 🗡 and was part of her entourage of chaste female hunters. Callisto’s beauty aroused the attention of Zeus who seduced her by disguising himself as Artemis.. and nine months later her pregnancy was discovered by her suspicious companions who then forced her to strip and bathe. She was humiliated and banished from Artemis’ entourage, but not before Artemis, in a fit of rage, transformed her into a she-bear. She was later killed in a hunt lead by Artemis, mistaken for a real bear. 🐻😢🗡
